The WSIS is dedicated to not only recognizing the Digital
Divide but
also to developing processes for achieving Digital Inclusion. In
September 2003 the Salzburg Seminar in Digital Inclusion was held in
Salzburg, Austria and attended by 55 delegates from 30 countries. The
participants in the Seminar identified the need for an internationally
recognized symbol associated with Digital Inclusion so that worthwhile
projects supporting Inclusion could receive increased attention by
governments and the funding community.
This triangular bridge symbol represents the delta of
change brought
about by the empowerment of individuals and groups to become equal
participants in the Information Society by bridging the digital divide.
It has been designed through a process of international collaboration
and is being distributed by the Digital Inclusion Institute so that it
can be made widely available for use by individuals and organizations
which support Digital Inclusion.
The participants in this initiative welcome your support
to increase
global recognition, collaboration and efforts to address the need for
Digital Inclusion in the emerging age of the Information Society.
